Australia win opening tie in Kuching




OMAR Jasika won both his singles and doubles matches to guide second seeds Australia to an effortless 3-0 victory over Malaysia in a Group B tie of the Asia-Oceania World Junior Under-14 Qualifiers in Kuching on Monday.
Omar breezed past Koay Hoa Sheng 6-3, 6-1 before earning Australia's third point in the doubles with Jake Delaney. The pair, however, dropped the opening set before winning 4-6, 6-3, 6-1 over Hao Sheng-Talhah Rahizam (pic).
In the second singles match, Marc Polmans hammered Tony Chin 6-1, 6-0.
The Malaysian team are competing in the tournament only for exposure purposes.
