Si Yew Ming turned on an impressive performance to claim his fourth straight local title of the year at the recent National Circuit (fourth leg) in Melaka.
The top seed, came back from a set down to beat second seed Abdul Hazli Zainuddin 6-7 (5-7), 6-4, 3-0 (rtd) in the final. The 32-year-old has so far earned RM16,000 from the local circuit.
In the doubles final, Hazli and reigning national singles champion Syed Aqil Syed Naguib defeated Mohd Faez Said and Syed Ariffin 6-2, 5-7, 10-3.
The Boey sisters dominated the women’s event. Alyssa upset her elder sister and top seed Adelle 6-4, 6-4 in the singles final. They went on to lift the doubles title by winning all their round-robin matches.

Malaysia to host ITF Seniors Tour event
Kuala Lumpur has been chosen by the International Tennis Federation (ITF) to host the first edition of the Malaysian ITF Seniors (Grade Five) Championships.
The event is expected to bring together some of the best local and foreign players in the week of Oct 17-23 at the National Tennis Centre in Kuala Lumpur.
The competition is immediately after Singapore's Charles Simon ITF Seniors Championships.
The initiative came from former national coach Fadilah Ghani, who worked tirelessly to get the tournament sanctioned by the ITF Seniors Tour.
"We are finally going to have an international-level senior tournament in Malaysia. As it is a Grade Five event, we are not obliged to offer prize money," Fadilah told www.malaysiantennis.blogspot.
"I thank the Lawn Tennis Association of Malaysia (LTAM) president Tan Sri Abdul Razak Latiff for giving support to this tournament. The association will assist where they can to ensure the event is run well."
The tournament will include men's (45-and-above, 50, 55, 60, 65) and women's (45-and-above, 50, 55, 60) singles and doubles.

Tomic to play in KL
WIMBLEDON quarter-finalist Bernard Tomic, the highest ranked Australian on the ATP world rankings at 72, has agreed to play in the ATP Malaysian Open on Sept 24-Oct 2 at Putra Stadium in Bukit Jalil.
The 19-year-old, who is one of the most talked about young tennis stars in the world, hopes to carry his outstanding form since the start of the year with an ATP 250 title to Kuala Lumpur.
Tomic has, however, won two Challenger events, both in Australia since turning professional three years ago.
The talented youngster claimed two junior grand slam titles in the 2008 Australian Open and a year later, at the US Open.
Tomic, nicknamed "A-Tomic", thrilled the crowd at this year's Wimbledon by reaching the quarter-finals as a qualifier before going down to Serbia's eventual champion and World No 1 Noval Djokovic in four sets.
He will be making his second straight appearance in the Malaysian Open. Last year, Tomic was beaten by Spain's David Ferrer in the first round.
Tomic, who hopes to sizzle in KL, said: "I believe that I'm only a few matches away from winning a title. I know what my goals are now. My performance at Wimbledon has shown me what I'm capable of doing in the future," said Tomic.
"I am looking forward to playing in KL. I enjoyed being in the city last year and, hopefully, the week there will be a great one."
The tournament, which is one of only five World Tour stops in Asia, carries a total prize money of US$947,750 (RM2.9 million) and features a 28-player singles main draw and 16 doubles.
Some of the best players in the world are expected to play in the event and among the confirmed entries are Russia's defending champion Mikhail Youzhny and compatriot Nikolay Davydenko, who won the 2009 inaugural competition.

Waiting on a top five player
AFTER the resounding success of last year's Malaysian Open, the ATP World Tour 250 tournament will return to Putra Stadium, Bukit Jalil on Sept 24-Oct 3.
The tournament, which is one of only five World Tour stops in Asia, carries a total prize money of US$947,750 (RM2.9 million) and features a 28-player singles main draw and 16 doubles.
Russia's World No 17 Mikhail Youzhny, the defending champion, and compatriot Nikolay Davydenko, who won the 2009 inaugural competition, are both expected to be in Kuala Lumpur.
This year's event will likely feature one top five ATP player and new faces who are making a name on the world stage.
"We are planning to bring one top five player but it is not easy as these players have a tight schedule," said tournament director Nick Freyer at the unveiling of Wilson as the tournament's official tennis equipment supplier in Kuala Lumpur.
"Hopefully, we will get one of the top three names in tennis but when that will happen, I can't say. I will be at Wimbledon to meet these players."
Freyer, who is also IMG senior vice-president, said a fresh face who is already a top player, has agreed to compete in the Malaysian Open.
"I will make an official announcement soon. On other players, a lot will depend on the results of the Davis Cup. If everything goes well, we will get the best in this tournament," he said.
Two qualifying singles wild cards will be allocated to local players. A local player will join forces with an international ATP World Tour star in the doubles main draw, courtesy of a main draw wild card.
In last year's tournament, Nazim Khan, who is in Sri Lanka for the Davis Cup, paired with Davydenko in the doubles.
"I have noticed a big improvement in the standard of local players at last year's tournament. I really hope those selected will do better this time," said Freyer.
IMG also announced a ticketing strategy with features which include unreserved free seating at one ticket price.

Talhah wins it for dad
PETALING JAYA: Former national coach Rahizam Abdul Rahim received the perfect Father's Day gift from his son, Talhah, last month.
Talhah presented his father with the Selangor Tennis Association (STA)-Milo Inter-Team League title.
Talhah and Yussyazlin Nabila Yusri, playing in the mixed doubles, clinched the winning point for Selangor Juniors Super Eight, who are coached by Rahizam, in their 3-2 victory over Tennis Edge in the final at the Kelana Jaya Complex.
With the score tied at 2-2, Talhah-Yussyazlin came onto the court and produced a 6-0, 6-1 victory over Tennis Edge's Danish Martin-Tan Jia Xuan.
The Selangor team received RM900 while Tennis Edge earned RM500.
"It is the best gift ever that I got. I am proud of my son for playing so well in this tournament," said Rahizam. "As a father and coach, I am so happy for Talhah, who before going on court, promised me the title.
"Everyone in the team also played an instrumental role in this memorable victory. It was a last minute thing, as I was told to form a team just days before the event."
At short notice, Rahizam was asked by the STA to put up a team to represent the association in the tournament.
"I couldn't gather a team of only Selangor players as some of them were unavailable. I mixed the squad with players from Penang, Johor, Perlis and Malacca," he said.
The fifth edition of the league attracted nine teams from Selangor, Kuala Lumpur and Negri Sembilan. The teams were drawn in three groups with the top two advancing to the winners' pool to decide the champions.
Each tie was decided over three singles (Boys' Under-12 and Under-14, Girls' Under-14), one Boys' Under-12 doubles and one Under-14 mixed doubles.
The tournament provided an ideal platform for players in the Under-12 age-group to take on one another as they don't have such opportunities often.
They do not get to compete regularly after the Under-12 category was abolished in this year's SportExcel circuit.
"Twenty-seven players in the Under-12 category were involved in this tournament. They were excited throughout the two-day event as they played against those within their age-group," added Rahizam.
STA secretary Tengku Mohamed Tengku Harun said the event has grown in popularity over the years.
"We managed to attract nine teams, which is a good number for a junior inter-team event. One team withdrew in the last minute," he said.
The other teams who took part were MBPJ Juniors, KLLTA, NSLTA Kancil, SBTT, NSLTA Juniors, PJ Club and Ace.
